Finally. Mike Phelan is this afternoon set to sign a deal to become the permanent manager of Hull City.

The Premier League side, who currently sit 15th in the top-flight standings following their promotion from the Championship last term, are poised to wrap up terms for the former Manchester United assistant to fully succeed Steve Bruce as first-team boss having taken over the reigns on an interim basis since July.

Named Premier League Manager of the Month back in August after the Tigers defeated defending league champions Leicester City and Swansea City in their opening fixtures, Hull fans have been waiting very patiently for the club’s board to finally thrash out a permanent contract for the 54-year-old.

So, with Hull’s managerial position set to finally be filled on a permanent basis, here’s how fans reacted to the news on Twitter:
