League Two Preview: Plymouth travel to Wycombe while Orient host Cambridge

With League Two leaders Northampton out of action due to the FA Cup, focus switches to second-placed Plymouth, who can reclaim the top spot with a win against Wycombe.

Argyle lost more ground to Town last weekend after drawing 1-1 with high-flying Bristol Rovers, but Derek Adams’ men will be boosted by the loan signing of Daniel Nardiello.

Wanderers are currently enduring a run of three straight defeats which has seen them drop out of the coveted play-off places, and the Chairboys will need a victory to keep them within touching distance.

In one of the stand out matches of the weekend, two top-seven teams do battle as Accrington host Bristol Rovers at the Crown Ground.

Stanley want to cement their place in the play-offs as they are currently only in them on goal difference, but they do have up to four games in hand on the sides around them.

John Coleman’s side have up to four games in hand on the teams around them.

Manager John Coleman has been busy bringing in defender Mark Hughes and midfielder Scott Brown to bolster the squad, while Rovers signed striker Rory Fallen as they look to close the four-point gap to an automatic promotion place.

Wimbledon, who are outside of the play-off positions on goal difference, take on Yeovil who are struggling to stay above the drop.

With four straight wins and on a six-game unbeaten run, the Wombles will want to extend the run against an out of sorts Town. The Glovers have taken seven points in their last four but remain above the relegation zone on goal difference only.

Leyton Orient in sixth will want to cement their place in the play-offs as they welcome Cambridge United, who are winless in four.

Orient’s player-manager Kevin Nolan has won two out of two and came off the bench for the final 10 minutes in their 1-0 win against Notts County last time out, but their opponents this weekend suffered a blow with the news that top-scorer Barry Corr will need knee surgery, but they have brought in Ben Williamson as a replacement.

Two teams that have underperformed this season meet at Kenilworth Road as 15th-placed Luton Town play hosts to 17th-placed Notts County.

Bottom of the table York will fancy their chances when they play host to an out-of-sorts Stevenage.

Three points from safety, City released three defenders this week as they look to stop the rot at the back. Meanwhile, their opponents manager’ Teddy Sheringham has also been busy after releasing Mark Hughes and Jamie McCombe by mutual consent, and they are looking to improve on a run that has seen them go seven league matches without a win.

Elsewhere, Hartlepool, who have won just once in their last seven host play-off chasing Exeter, while Newport travel to Morecambe.
