Liverpool not willing to meet Shakhtar Donetsk’s £53m asking price of Brazilian

Liverpool reportedly look set to miss out on Brazil midfielder Alex Teixeira, according to the Evening Standard.

The Premier League side, who drew 0-0 with West Ham United in the FA Cup at the weekend, had a £24.5m bid rejected for the Shakhtar Donetsk star last month.

The 26-year-old has scored a sensational 26 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions for the Ukrainian outfit this season.

The report suggests that Shakhtar want £53m for their prized asset, meaning any last-minute January deal looks very unlikely.
