Liverpool have reportedly joined Arsenal in the race to sign England Under-20 international defender Ben Chilwell this summer, according to Goal.

The Premier League side, who slipped to eighth spot in the English top-flight standings following Sunday’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium, are interested in snapping up Leicester City’s highly-rated left-back once the current 2015-16 campaign has concluded.

The 19-year-old; who played eight games for Championship side Huddersfield Town during a successful loan spell earlier this term, has made three first-team appearances for the Premier League champions so far this season – all coming in either the FA Cup and League Cup.

Chilwell, who can also operate as a centre-half, was reportedly the subject of a failed £3.5m raid from Arsene Wenger’s Gunners last summer.

However the report now suggests that Jurgen Klopp’s Reds are ready to test Leicester’s resolve over their prized asset with a bid in the region of £8m during the forthcoming transfer window.
