Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of Portugal teenage sensation Goncalo Guedes.

The 13-time Premier League champions, who currently sit sixth in the standings heading into the New Year, are keen on thrashing out a January deal for the Benfica winger, who is being branded as the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’.

The 19-year-old, who already has two international caps at senior level, has scored four and assisted six goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for the Liga NOS outfit this season.

Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal insists on bringing in another attacking player during next month’s transfer window, with Old Trafford being recently named the ‘most boring place to watch football’ this season in all four English divisions following just 13 league goals this term.
