Manuel Pellegrini’s Manchester City are currently three points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal.

With the club currently trailing league leaders Arsenal by three points in third spot, Manchester City may well look to add a little bit more fire power to their ranks during the January transfer window in a bid to win their third Premier League title come May.

The Citizens, who narrowly defeated newly-promoted Watford 2-1 at the weekend, have been heavily linked with a move for Germany’s teenage sensation Leroy Sane this month.

Reports in his homeland suggest that Schalke are willing to part with their prized asset for around £40m.

The 19-year-old, who made his international debut for the 2014 World Cup winners against France back in November, has scored five and assisted five goals in 24 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

However Sane, who is contracted to Schalke until June 2019 after signing fresh terms back in July, is also said to be attracting interest from English top-flight rivals Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham this month.

It is thought that City have been keeping close tabs on Sane since December 2013 and have now stepped up their interest. Txiki Begiristain, the club’s sporting director, was hopeful of thrashing out a January transfer for the teenager, although the summer transfer window now looks a more likely bet.
