Premier League side Manchester United sell more shirts than any other club in world football, that is according to data compiled by Dr Peter Rohlmann and his team at PR Marketing (via SportingIntelligence.com).

The Red Devils, who face rivals Liverpool at Anfield tonight in the Red Monday clash, sold an average of 1.75m shirts per year during the five-year period from the 2011/12 season to 2015/16.

La Liga giants Real Madrid are second on the list, selling an average of 1.65m, while FC Barcelona came third, having offloaded 1.28m.

Completing the top five is Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich in fourth spot with 1.2m, whilst English top-flight rivals Chelsea are the next English club on the list, coming fifth with sales of 889,000 shirts.

Furthermore, Premier League rivals Liverpool and Arsenal are sixth and seventh respectively on the list, generating average sales of 852,000 and 835,000.

United’s rivals, Manchester City, are further down in 13th place. Interestingly there is a three-way tie for the lowest average shirt sales per year between three clubs – AFC Bournemouth, Hull City and Watford – who bring in around 10,000 sales.
