Manchester United have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners to sign France international star Paul Pogba this summer, according to AS (via the Metro).

The 13-time Premier League champions; who could only finish fifth in the English top-flight standings last term, despite winning the 2016 FA Cup under former boss Louis van Gaal, have been continually linked with a move to try and re-sign the midfielder from Juventus.

The 23-year-old, who has 35 international caps for his country and is currently with the France national squad at EURO 2016, scored 10 goals and provided 16 assists in 49 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A champions last season.

Pogba, who left Old Trafford back in the summer of 2012 after rejecting a new contract with the Red Devils, is also being heavily pursued by La Liga giants Real Madrid – with manager Zinedine Zidane understood to be an admirer of his fellow countryman.

However the report suggests that United’s close relationship with agent Mino Raiola – who also manages fellow transfer targets Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan – is helping United edge out the Spaniards in the race to land his signature this summer.
