It was very much Groundhog Day for Arsenal fans over the 2016 summer transfer window. Fan’s anger with manager, Arsene Wenger reached boiling point once again before the club announced the signing’s of Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez from Valencia and Deportivo respectively.

Despite the uproar, the Gunners actually began their dealings well before many other clubs in the Premier League, agreeing the deal to bring Swiss midfielder, Granit Xhaka to North London as early as May.

However, this for Gooners fans was, as always, not enough. Deals for the likes of Griezmann, Lewandowski and Daniel Sturridge were all mooted but did not materialise, cue meltdown.

Of course, when it’s Arsenal we’re talking about, there’s only one place to start, the #WengerOut brigade, and they were out in full force over the closing stages of the window:

One ‘fan’ was even questioning whether or not the ‘signings’ which Le Prof had ‘made’ were even real:

The high profile departure from the Emirates was a shock late loan move for fan favourite, Jack Wilshere, who joined Premier League rivals, Bournemouth for the forthcoming season.

One canny fan pointed out that in signing German international Mustafi, Wenger has killed two birds with one stone by bolstering the defence and also keeping Wilshere’s physio in a job, whilst others were not so pleased with the club or player:

Other fans chose to take a positive outlook on the new additions, and kept faith in the boss:

However, it seem’s the overwhelming sentiment for the window is ‘Try harder next time, Arsene’:

There were other players that could have been brought in but because of Wenger’s dilly dallying their prices went up to beyond what he was prepared toay.
