West Ham fans have been desperate for a big-money striker signing since their move to London Stadium last summer, with the owners persistently pedalling the line that they are ready to sanction a deal.

The Hammers have recently been linked with a £20m move for Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho, however, it looks as if they will face more competition than first expected for the Nigerian.

According to reports in the Birmingham Mail, Premier League rivals Southampton and West Brom are also taking an interest in the Sky Blues youngster, as well as German giants Borussia Dortmund.

The 20-year-old, who has bagged 21 goals in a Manchester City shirt, is expected to leave after the arrival and rapid rise of Gabriel Jesus shortened his chances of becoming a regular fixture in Pep Guardiola’s first team plans at The Etihad.

While the both West Ham and Southampton have been struggling for goals all season, and whilst the southerners looked to have amended their issue with the arrival of Manolo Gabbiadini in January his goals dried up towards the end of the season.
