3 reasons why Leicester can continue the fairytale by beating Atletico this evening

Resurgent under new boss Shakespeare

Many lambasted Leicester’s decision to sack title-winning manager Claudio Ranieri back in February, yet their form under new boss Shakespeare has suggested that it was the right decision.

The Foxes had just lost 2-1 in Sevilla in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie, were knocked out of the FA Cup four days earlier at the hands of League One side Millwall, and were fourth bottom in the Premier League table when Ranieri lost his job.

Yet they are now 12th in the table having picked up 16 points in just seven league games, and of course overturned that narrow deficit against Sevilla to book their place in the last eight of the Champions League.

All in all, they are a different side to the one that lost 2-0 at Swansea on February 12 to fall to 17th in the table, and as such Shakespeare deserves enormous credit for turning things around at the King Power Stadium, and making them look more like the side that won the league last term.

And it’s form that gives them a real chance against Atletico this evening.
