It took the Reds until their fifth game of the year to get their first win, but it came courtesy of a Lucas header against Plymouth Argyle in midweek.

Klopp’s men weren’t at their best but secured their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup, and the win will give everyone around the club a huge boost going into the weekend’s clash with Swansea.

Liverpool had drawn with both Sunderland and the Pilgrims to start the year, before losing to Southampton in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final on January 11.

Nonetheless, an improved display in their draw with Manchester United and now their win over Plymouth will increase the confidence levels in the Liverpool squad, as they got that first-win monkey off their backs on Wednesday night.

The returning Philippe Coutinho will also give Klopp a boost ahead of Swansea in what has been a decent week for the Reds – can they cap it off with three more points in the Premier League?
