Liverpool suffered a surprise 2-0 defeat at Hull City last weekend to drop out of the Premier League’s top four for the first time since September.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are embarking on a wretched run of form in 2017, as they have won just one of their ten games in all competitions, and that was an unconvincing 1-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle in an FA Cup third round replay.

Defeats to Southampton over two legs and to Wolves at Anfield a few weeks back mean that the Reds are also out of both cup competitions, while no Premier League victory since New Year’s Eve has all but ended their title hopes, given that they trail leaders Chelsea by 13 points with just 14 games to go.

Thus, Klopp’s men will turn their attentions to trying to finish in the top four come May, and indeed return to the Champions League after a two-year absence.

Liverpool are currently fifth, but they are just a point behind Arsenal in fourth and three behind Manchester City in third, so they’ll certainly fancy their chances of usurping at least one of those sides to finish in the top four.

So, with that in mind, here are THREE reasons why Liverpool will finish in the top four come May…
