5 things we learned from Chelsea v Sunderland

Sunderland’s top-flight farewell

Sunderland’s Javi Manquillo celebrates opening the scoring at Stamford Bridge.

The visitors were playing in their final match as a Premier League side, having been relegated at the end of April and the result summarised their season.

David Moyes’ side showed signs in the first-half of coming away from South West London with a shock result, but it was not meant to be.

Their second-half performance showed just how bad things have become at club.

Sunderland need to have a serious turnaround over the summer if they are to stand any chance of returning to the top-flight in 12 months time.
