Ever since the Spanish goalkeeper stopped flapping at so many crosses and showed his real ability at Old Trafford he has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu.

The departure of Real legend Iker Casillas this summer seemed to finally pave the way for the 24-year-old to become Madrid’s next long-serving keeper.

This rumoured deal has been in the media every single week of this window, with a transfer seemingly close one day and off the next.

The most recent update is that Louis van Gaal has said that de Gea will not leave Old Trafford during this window, despite the fact that he has been left out of their squad so far this season.

Considering the Spain shot-stopper is out of contract next summer, it surely makes sense that he moves to Madrid before Deadline Day.

Clubs linked with: Real Madrid.

Outcome: Still rumbling on.
