Arsenal’s bosses will be working hard behind the scenes ahead of the summer transfer window officially opening on June 14.

The Gunners have finished as runners-up to Premier League champions Manchester City in each of the past two seasons – surrendering significant leads on both occasions – and manager Mikel Arteta will therefore want to bolster his squad this summer.

It has been suggested that the North London club will be on the hunt for a new central midfielder to partner Declan Rice, but it appears that Arsenal are actually facing a battle to keep hold of one of their defenders.

As per journalist Santi Aouna via The Evening Standard, Italian giants AC Milan have made Arsenal full-back Jakub Kiwior one of their priorities for this summer’s transfer window.

Kiwior enjoyed an impressive season for Arsenal last term

The report claims that Milan made an unsuccessful attempt to sign the Poland international in January, and are now set to reignite their interest in the 24-year-old.

Kiwior joined the Gunners from Italian side Spezia in January 2023 and has since played 38 times for the club across all competitions.

Last season the Polish defender was used primarily as a left-back, but he can also operate in the centre of defence.

Kiwior’s current contract with Arsenal is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 season, but Milan are set to make another attempt to lure him away from London this summer.

The Poland international isn’t a guaranteed starter for Arteta’s side and has instead primarily acted as back-up to the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu since arriving at the Emirates.
