Manchester United return to action on Sunday when they face League Two side Newport County in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Erik ten Hag’s side will be confident of progressing into the next round, and the game will also provide them with the opportunity to return to winning ways after drawing 2-2 against Tottenham Hotspur last time out.

United have won just once in their last seven games across all competitions, and Ten Hag will likely be looking to reinforce his squad during this month’s transfer window.

It appears that the Manchester club may have been handed a boost in their pursuit of an Eredivisie star.

According to Football Insider, Ajax forward Bryan Brobbey is ‘very keen’ on the idea of joining Manchester United.

The 21-year-old has been in fine form for Ajax so far this season, scoring 16 times in 21 matches across all competitions including 11 in 17 Dutch top flight games.

Brobbey is reportedly keen to join Manchester United

It is claimed that United Ten Hag is a ‘big admirer’ of the Netherlands international, having managed the player during his time in charge of Ajax.

While working under Ten Hag, the player scored 13 goals and provided three assists in 32 matches.

Brobbey progressed through the youth ranks in Amsterdam before joining German side RB Leipzig in 2021, where he failed to score in 14 senior appearances.

He then returned to Ajax on loan in January 2022, before making his return permanent that summer.

The striker earned his senior international debut for the Netherlands in October last year, and will be hoping to secure himself a place in the squad for Euro 2024 this summer.

United have struggled in front of goal so far this season, with only three sides having scored fewer goals in the Premier League than United’s 24.

Brobbey’s current contract is set to run until 2027, and it remains to be seen whether or not Ajax would be willing to let the player leave before then.
