Sam Allardyce is turning to the free agents market as he attempts to take Crystal Palace away from the relegation zone.

According to a report in The Sun former Juventus defender Martin Caceres is about to be offered training facilities at Selhurst Park.

Caceres left Juventus at the end of last season and is hoping to get fixed up if he can impress Allardyce.

The Palace boss was pleased to bring in Patrick van Aanholt this morning but is desperate to reshape his side after a largely frustrating month on the market.

Caceres spent five seasons with Juventus before leaving last summer and has also had short spells with Juventus and Barcelona.

The 29-year-old will train with Palace this week but it’s likely to be later in the week before any decision is taken over whether to offer a contract until the end of the season.

Former QPR defender Christopher Samba is already on trial with Palace.
