Manchester United return to Europa League action when they host Scottish side Rangers on Thursday.

Ruben Amorim’s side suffered yet another defeat on Sunday, succumbing to a 3-1 loss against Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford.

That result leaves the Red Devils 13th in the Premier League table, but they are in a far better position in Europe as they sit seventh and are on course to qualify automatically for the knockout stages of the competition.

Away from the action, United are yet to sign a senior player during the current transfer window, but there has been a big update on the future of one of their current stars.

GiveMeSport claims that United boss Amorim is keen to move forward Marcus Rashford on and isn’t planning to offer him a route back into his squad even if he returns to the club this summer.

Late last year Rashford made the shock admission to journalist Henry Winter that he is ‘ready for a new challenge‘, and he has since been linked with a move to a number of clubs across Europe.

The report claims that Amorim’s preference is to offload the Englishman before the end of the current window.

Rashford could leave Manchester United this week

Rashford, 27, is a graduate of United’s youth academy and has now played 426 times for his boyhood club across all competitions, scoring 138 goals and registering 63 assists.

The report claims that, if the forward departs on loan for the remainder of the current campaign and returns this summer, those in charge of the club have no plans to offer Rashford an opportunity to play his way back into Amorim’s squad ahead of next season.

That suggests that the England international has most likely already made his final appearance for United, with his most recent appearance having been against Czech side Viktoria Plzen in the Europa League in December.

It is claimed that United are demanding a fee of £40 million for the player but a lack of potential suitors that can afford that fee, coupled with his wage demands, have seen the Manchester club entertain the idea of a loan move.
