Arsenal may have been the biggest spenders in the summer, but that does not mean their squad is complete.

They were the biggest spenders in the whole of Europe last season, after splashing out around £150m on Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Albert Sambi-Lokonga, and Nuno Tavares

And it appears the Gunners are in the process of a minor recovery, after their shambolic start to the season where they were convincingly beaten by Brentford, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta’s side fell to 2-0, 2-0, and 5-0 score lines in their opening matches, however, two consecutive 1-0 victories against Norwich City and Burnley respectively, have lifted them from rock bottom to 13th place.

However, it appears Arteta is not satisfied with his squad, and reports from football.london suggest he has expressed an interest in Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.

Weston McKennie was vital to Andrea Pirlo last season.

The American permanently signed for the Italian giants this summer, after a successful loan period where he contributed six goals and three assists in 46 appearances.

His versatility saw him fielded as a defensive midfielder, an attacking midfielder, as well as a wide midfielder on both flanks.

And previous comments from Andrea Pirlo, the previous Juventus manager who put so much trust in the 23-year-old, suggest his quality is only going to get better.

When asked about the strong performances of McKennie last season, Pirlo said to Football Italia:“McKennie didn’t surprise me.”

“We had followed him and knew him well. The permanent deal must be a starting point for him.

“If he thinks he has reached the top, he has made a mistake and is not on the right path.”
