Anita on his way

Vurnon Anita could be on his way to Napoli.

According to a report on Sport Witness the Italian side are keen to snap up the out of contract full-back.

Anita made over 30 appearances in Newcastle’s promotion winning season but left to go on holiday without agreeing a new contract to stay at St James’ Park.

Rafa Benitez said that he was keen to deal with the issue but after the title win celebrations it seems that the issue has been left unresolved.

At 28 years of age Anita is in a perfect position to negotiate a new deal having shown his versatility in converting from playing as a defensive midfielder into a right-back.

Benitez is looking to strengthen all areas of his squad with the likely departure of the Dutchman leaving the right back position looking weak.

Yoan Gouffran is in a similar situation with no new offer being made before he left to go on holiday.
