Manchester United striker Anthony Martial is thought to be upset with manager Jose Mourinho after the forward was dropped for the draw with Stoke.
The Frenchman who is popular with the United faithful was left out of the 18-man squad altogether without explanation. According to The Mirror, the relationship between the two has been strained.
Mourinho was reportedly disappointed with Martial after his performance against rookie Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. The two clubs drew at Old Trafford nine days ago and Mourinho substituted Martial in the second half.
Martial signed for the Red Devils from Monaco in the summer of 2015 for £38.5m. After a steady debut season, the striker has provided an underwhelming scoring record this campaign. It’s two goals and three league assists in 13 games for the France international.
Martial was missing but Wayne Rooney managed to rescue a point for United with his record breaking 250th goal as the sides drew 1-1 on Saturday.
