Manchester United will have to offer a contract worth £400,000-a-week if they wish to sign France international forward Antoine Griezmann, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who defeated Championship side Derby County 2-0 in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday night, have been strongly linked with a mega money move for the Atletico Madrid star during previous transfer windows.

The 26-year-old, who has 49 international caps for his country, has scored eight goals and provided six assists in 22 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga outfit so far this season.

Griezmann, who joined Atletico back in July 2014 in a deal worth around £24m from Spanish rivals Real Sociedad, has netted 91 times in 182 games overall for Diego Simeone’s side.

The report claims the French striker will demand a whopping £400,000-a-week deal to join the Red Devils this summer, as FC Barcelona are also interested in his services come the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

United initially offered Griezmann around £290,000-a-week last year, but that financial package has now fell well short of the player’s fresh demands, which could potentially stall any transfer to Old Trafford this summer.

His £400,000-a-week wage demands would mean United need to offer the forward a deal worth around £20.85m-a-year.
