Chelsea are reportedly plotting a move for Italy international forward Federico Bernardeschi, according to Calciomercato.

The Premier League side, who currently sit top of the English top-flight standings following their impressive 3-1 victory over title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium last time out, have been linked with a £38m offer for the Fiorentina winger ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

The 22-year-old, who has seven international caps for his country and featured for Italy at Euro 2016 earlier this summer, has impressively scored eight goals and provided one assist in 19 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit so far this season.

Bernardeschi, who came through Fiorentina’s youth ranks, was handed his international debut for the Azzurri by Blues boss Antonio Conte back in March against Spain.

The report suggests that the Chelsea manager could look to bring the Italian winger to Stamford Bridge as a possible replacement for star striker Diego Costa.
