Arsenal and Chelsea have both been boosted in their reported pursuits of Colombia international star James Rodriguez, according to the London Evening Standard.

The Premier League duo, who finished second and tenth in the English top-flight standings last summer, have both been linked with a move for Real Madrid’s attacking midfielder before deadline day (August 31).

The 25-year-old, who has 48 international caps for his country, scored eight goals and provided 10 assists in 32 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga giants last season.

Rodriguez, who is also said to be attracting interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain as well, is tipped to leave the Bernabeu.

And the report suggests that the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has told both Arsenal and Chelsea that Madrid are prepared to part with the Colombian, although they will demand around £65m for his services.

The midfielder has scored an impressive 25 goals in 79 games for the Spanish outfit since sealing his €80m switch from AS Monaco shortly after the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
