Chelsea travel north to face Premier League leaders Liverpool when the Premier League returns after the international break.

Enzo Maresca’s side have made a relatively impressive start to the new campaign and currently sit fourth in the top flight table, behind Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Blues were one of the Premier League’s busiest sides during the summer transfer window, with the club’s ownership continuing the huge recruitment drive that has become synonymous with their tenure.

Several players arrived at Stamford Bridge over the summer, while a number were also sold.

Now, it appears that the Blues are interested in a Serie A star.

According to CaughtOffside, both Chelsea and Arsenal have scouted Bologna youngster Santiago Castro.

The 20-year-old forward has been in fine form for the Italian outfit in the early stages of the new campaign.

Castro has started the new season in good form for Bologna

Having joined from Argentinian side Velez Sarsfield in January, the striker has since scored four times in 17 games for the Italian side.

He has started the new season particularly impressively, scoring three times in his last four games.

Fellow Premier League clubs Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest and Everton are also all said to have been monitoring the player, who has impressed interested clubs.

It remains unclear whether or not the Argentina Under-20 international would consider a move to England, but Arsenal or Chelsea could look to sign him next year.

Castro’s current contract with Bologna is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, and the Serie A side will likely be reluctant to sell a player that is widely regarded as one of the most promising young forwards in Europe.

Chelsea have signed a number of young South American talents over the past couple of years, including Kendry Paez, Estevao Willian and Davide Washington.
