Chelsea’s season went from bad to worse on Sunday as they were held to a 2-2 raw by Sheffield United.

The Blues have endured a difficult campaign so far, but a dramatic 4-3 win over rivals Manchester United last time out had temporarily appeased supporters’ frustration.

It didn’t last long, though, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side could only take a point from their trip to Bramall Lane to face the Premier League’s bottom side.

The result leaves the Blues ninth in the top flight table, and it appears that there could be more bad news coming for the West London club.

According to Spanish outlet Sport via 90min, Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo is likely to remain at loan side Barcelona, despite interest from elsewhere.

The Portuguese defender is currently on loan at the Spanish side, having moved to Catalunya last summer.

Cancelo is currently on loan at Spanish side Barcelona

Previously he had spent time on loan at German giants Bayern Munich, having fallen out with City boss Pep Guardiola, and the player has since publicly criticised the Spaniard.

Cancelo, 29, joined the Citizens in 2019 from Italian club Juventus and has made more than 150 appearances for the Manchester club across all competitions.

Both Chelsea and Arsenal are said to have shown an interest in signing Cancelo this summer, but the report claims that the player himself is keen to stay put at Barcelona and has therefore asked his agent to agree a permanent move.

Bayern, who Cancelo made 21 appearances for during his loan spell in Bavaria, are also credited with an interest in the Portugal international.

City are said to be looking for a fee in the region of £34 million for Cancelo, who has scored four goals and provided the same number of assists in 33 games this term.
