Arsenal and Everton could go head-to-head in the battle to sign West Ham’s Reece Oxford, according to the Mirror.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach and has since struggled to force his ways into Manuel Pellegrini’s plans at the London Stadium.

A highly-rated defender, who can also play in midfield, Oxford has yet to make an appearances for the Hammers this term and his long-term future at the club remains unclear.

Despite struggling to establish himself with the Irons since becoming their youngest ever player in 2015, it is reported that both Arsenal and Everton are keen on acquiring his services.

Reece Oxford has yet to feature under Manuel Pellegrini at West Ham.

The Gunners want defensive reinforcements having suffered a number of injuries in that position this season, most notably, Rob Holding ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

Meanwhile, the Toffees are also thought to be interested in brining in a player who’s still thought of as a potential senior England international.

It is yet to be seen if West Ham will sell after refusing to listen to offers from Monchengladbach for Oxford in order to bring him back to London.

But now it seems that he’s not in Pellegrini’s plans, the Hammers board could be tempted to cash in as their academy graduate still has two-and-a-half years left to run on his contract.
