Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Croatia international midfielder Ivan Rakitic, according to Diario Gol.

The Premier League sides, who currently sit sixth and fourth in the top-flight standings respectively, have been linked with the FC Barcelona midfielder following Philippe Coutinho’s £142m move to the Nou Camp this week.

Rakitic, 29, who has 88 international caps for his country, has scored one goal and provided three assists in 28 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga leaders so far this season.

The report suggests the Croatian wants to leave Barcelona following the marquee arrival of Brazilian Coutinho, with The Reds considering replacing the Samba star with Rakitic this month, whilst Arsenal could rival their interest.

Rakitic, who joined Barca back in June 2014 following his move from Spanish rivals Sevilla, has netted 26 times in 187 games overall for the club.

He is valued at around £40.5m by transfermarkt.
