Arsenal travel north on Wednesday to face Port Vale in the Carabao Cup third round.

The Gunners rescued a point against Manchester City in the Premier League on Sunday, with Gabriel Martinelli’s late striker earning Mikel Arteta’s side a deserved draw.

That result leaves the North London outfit second in the Premier League table after five matches, although they already find themselves five points behind reigning champions – and current leaders – Liverpool.

Ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Port Vale, it has emerged that Arsenal may have been handed a boost in their pursuit of a La Liga superstar.

According to TBR Football, Real Madrid intend to sell Vinicius Junior if the star hasn’t agreed a new deal with the club by next summer.

The 25-year-old has established himself as one of the best attacking players in Europe over the past few seasons but his future in the Spanish capital is currently uncertain.

According to the report, the Spanish side have informed Vinicius that they intend to sell him next summer if the two parties haven’t reached an agreement to extend his contract, which is currently set to expire in 2027.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool have previously shown interest in the Brazilian and the report claims that the two Premier League sides have been made aware of his current situation.

Despite scoring 108 goals and providing 85 assists in 328 games for the La Liga giants across all competitions, the report also claims that members of the player’s camp have concerns about his place in the squad under Xabi Alonso.

So far this term the Brazil international has started four of Real’s matches, but the report claims that he is becoming frustrated having not played the entirety of one single game so far.

This, along with a lack of progression in regard to a contract extension, suggest that the winger could soon depart Real.

Chelsea and Manchester City are also said to have been told that Vinicius – who would likely cost in excess of £100 million – could be open to the idea of a move to the Premier League.
