Arsenal and Liverpool have reportedly emerged as the frontrunners to land France youth international striker Moussa Dembele, according to the Daily Star on Sunday.

The Premier League duo, who faced Stoke City and West Ham United in the English top-flight this weekend respectively, are among a number of European giants keeping close tabs on the in-form Celtic forward ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.

The 20-year-old, who has featured four times for France’s Under-21 side, has impressively scored 17 goals and provided three assists in 30 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish Premiership leaders this season.

Dembele, who arrived at Parkhead back in June following his switch from Championship club Fulham, is also attracting interest from Premier League rivals Manchester City ahead of the New Year.

However, the report suggests that the Gunners and the Reds are leading the chase for the Celtic hotshot, who saw a potential transfer to Arsenal’s North London rivals, Tottenham, collapse during the close of the 2016/16 campaign.

Dembele is thought to be valued at around £20m.
