Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly set to fall short in their pursuit of Spain international star Isco, according to Marca (via Talksport).

The Premier League duo, who finished second and eighth in the English top-flight standings last term respectively, have been continually linked with a summer move for the Real Madrid midfielder ahead of the upcoming 2016/17 campaign.

The 24-year-old; who has 14 international caps for his country, but missed out on Spain’s 23-man squad for EURO 2016, scored five goals and provided 12 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga giants last season.

However recent reports suggest that the attacking midfielder is willing to fight for a place at the Bernabeu under manager Zinedine Zidane this term.

Rumours started circulating about a possible Madrid exit this summer for Isco after he was left out of the starting XI for the 2016 Champions League final against rivals Atletico Madrid, with Arsenal and Liverpool supposedly interested in his services.
