Arsenal and Manchester City will fight it out to sign Real Betis’ Junior Firpo, according to the Daily Star.

The 22-year-old has impressed for the La Liga outfit who surprisingly defeated Barcelona 4-3 at the Camp Nou last time out.

Now the left-back’s performances have reportedly captured the attention of both the Gunners and the Cityzens.

Unai Emery is keen to strengthen his backline and is looking for a left sided player to be the long-term replacement for Nacho Monreal, especially with Sead Kolašinac out of favour.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is looking for new recruits.

But Pep Guardiola is also thought to be tracking the one-time Spain U21 international as he looks for someone to keep Benjamin Mendy on his toes.

And with Firpo’s agent being the City boss’ brother, Pere, the Premier League champions look to hold an advantage if any deal is to occur.

Prizing the defender away from Betis will not be easy though with an alleged release clause of £43.5m placed in his contract.
