Arsenal and Manchester United have reportedly been handed a boost in their pursuit of Turkey international Hakan Çalhanoğlu.

The Premier League duo, who sit joint-top and fourth in the standings respectively, have been told to stump up in excess of £29m during the January transfer window if they want to sign the Bayer Leverkusen midfielder.

The 21-year-old, who has 13 international caps to his name, has scored five and assisted four goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit this season.

Hailed as the ‘Next [Mesut] Ozil’; Leverkusen are desperate to hold onto their dead-ball specialist beyond the New Year period, although it is understood that Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are also interested in Calhanoglu’s services.
