Arsenal kept the pressure up on Premier League leaders Manchester City with a 3-1 win over Burnley on Saturday.

Goals from Leandro Trossard, William Saliba, and Oleksandr Zinchenko earned Mikel Arteta’s side all three points against the Clarets, despite Fabio Vieira’s late red card for a dangerous tackle.

The Gunners sit third in the Premier League table going into the international break, with leaders City just a single point ahead after they were held to a 4-4 draw by Chelsea in a thrilling game at Stamford Bridge.

Off the pitch, Arsenal are set to battle it out with Newcastle United in the rave to sign a Bundesliga star.

Both the Gunners and the Magpies are keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt, according to The Mirror.

The report claims that both Premier League clubs are interested in the 27-year-old, who can play in a variety of attacking positions.

Brandt cored against Newcastle in the Champions League last week

Brandt scored for Dortmund as they defeated Newcastle 2-0 in the Champions League last week, and it appears that his performance didn’t go unnoticed.

The German, who has been capped 45 times by his country at senior international level, joined Dortmund from fellow Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen back in 2019.

Since then, he has made a total of 185 appearances across all competitions, scoring 36 goals and providing 39 assists.

Liverpool are also said to be long-term admirers of the German, but Dortmund have so far refused to entertain any interest in the player due to his importance at his current club.

The German side are extremely unlikely to allow Brandt to leave the club in January and, having signed a contract extension until 2026 last summer, the Bundesliga outfit are in control over the player’s future.
