Having finished as Premier League runners-up in each of the past three seasons, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will be desperate to see his side go one better next term.

The Gunners finished second behind Manchester City twice in a row before being beaten to the title by Liverpool this season, and Arteta will likely want to bolster his squad this summer before once again challenging for the trophy next season.

With that in mind, it has emerged that the North London side are interested in a Ligue 1 defender, and they could face competition from their fiercest rivals in the race to land the player.

As reported by CaughtOffside, both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Monaco centre-back Wilfried Singo.

The 24-year-old impressed for Monaco this season, making 35 appearances across all competitions and scoring three times as well as providing the same number of assists.

That form has attracted attention from clubs in the Premier League, with Newcastle United also said to be interested in the Ivorian.

It is claimed that Singo, who has also attracted interest from Spanish side Atletico Madrid and Serie A champions Napoli, has a price tag of around £30 million.

Having joined Monaco from Italian side Torino in 2023, Singo has now played 60 times for his current side including 52 appearances in the French top flight.

He is under contract until the end of the 2027/28 season, but the report appears to suggest that he may leave the Ligue 1 giants during this summer’s transfer window.

Singo’s versatility could appeal to both Arteta and Spurs boss Ange Postcoglou, as the Ivory Coast international is capable of playing as a central defender or as a right-back.
