Arsenal are ready to sell highest paid player Mesut Ozil, but face a battle to offload the World Cup winner, according to the Mirror.

The German playmaker signed a £300,000 a-week deal with the Gunners last season, but has struggled for game time under Unai Emery.

Boss Emery has reportedly grown frustrated at Ozil’s lack of work rate, especially in away games, resulting in the 30 year-old not starting a Premier League game on the road since October.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has grown frustrated with Mesut Ozil this season.

However, on Wednesday night the Spaniard went a step further and dropped the 2014 World Cup winner from his first-team squad altogether in the defeat to North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Carabao Cup.

It is reported there is interest from Serie A side Inter Milan, but Arsenal are unlikely to subsidise the player’s wages and will command a sizeable fee.

With Ozil’s contract up in 2021, the North London side could find themselves in a difficult situation if they cannot get the best out of their mercurial talent.
