Arsenal are set to hold discussions over a possible move for Athletico Paranaense midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to reports.

The 22-year-old, who is a Brazil Under-23 international, has made 35 appearances for his current club this season.

And Globo Esporte report that the Gunners’ technical director Edu will talk with the 22-year-old’s representatives in London over a potential switch to the Emirates.

However, that doesn’t mean a deal is close as it’s claimed that Chelsea are also interested and that Portuguese giants Benfica currently lead the race for Guimaraes.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is looking at possibly bolstering his squad this month as he aims to climb up the Premier League table.

The North London side could only secure a 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield United on Saturday, despite leading at half-time.

Although it increases their unbeaten run to four matches it leaves them 10 points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea.
