Arsenal have reportedly entered talks over a potential deal to sign Colombia international defender Jeison Murillo this summer, according to Tribal Football (via the Daily Star).

The Premier League side, who finished second in the English top-flight standings after pipping rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the runners-up spot on the last day of term, have been linked with the Inter Milan centre-half ahead of the upcoming 2016/17 campaign.

The 24-year-old, who has 22 international caps for his country, scored two goals and provided one assist in 35 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A outfit last season.

Murillo, who only arrived at the San Siro back in July 2015 following last year’s switch from Spanish side Granada, is wanted by Gunners boss Arsene Wenger to strengthen his defensive ranks as the club go in search of their first league title since 2004.

Arsenal currently only have three senior centre-backs in their first-team squad; Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker and Gabriel, although France international Koscielny could miss the start of the 2016/17 season following his involvement at EURO 2016 this summer.
