Arsenal are set to let as many as 12 players go this summer as Mikel Arteta looks to fund a summer overhaul after a disappointing season.

The Gunners missed out on Champions League qualification by just two points after a dismal run of form towards the end of the season, with defeats to Arsenal and Newcastle United proving costly.

Now Arteta, along with technical director Edu, are planning to let a number of players go as they look to rebuild the Gunners squad ahead of a Europa League campaign next term.

Both Matteo Guendouzi and Konstantinos Mavropanos have already been sold for a combined fee of £12.5 million, and a number of names are set to follow the pair out of the exit door at The Emirates.

As per The Sun, the likes of Lucas Torreira and Hector Bellerin will be moved on this summer in order to create space in the squad and to source funds.

The pair have been on loan at Fiorentina and Real Betis respectively, and could stay put with their current clubs if deals can be agreed with Arsenal.

Arsenal are willing to let their surplus players leave for cut-price fees this summer in order to allow for an overhaul, and Edu is willing to let Arteta spend as much as £150 million.

Lacazette and Nketiah won’t be the only departures from Arsenal this summer

Bernd Leno is another player that could be sold, having lost his starting spot to Aaron Ramsdale earlier this season.

The German ‘keeper was dropped in favour of the Englishman after a disastrous start to the campaign, and hasn’t managed to regain his spot.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who is currently on loan at Serie A side Roma, could also be sold, although it isn’t yet known whether or not the midfielder will remain in the Italian capital.

Pablo Mari is another player that will almost certainly leave north London; the defender is currently on loan at Italian side Udinese.

William Saliba, who is on loan at Marseille, has spoken of his desire to play Champions League football and may therefore stay put in the French city in order to do so.

The Gunners are also set to lose both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette as both strikers’ contracts expire in the coming weeks, and that could leave Arteta with just 16 outfield players.

The Spaniard will therefore have to venture into the market as soon as possible, with a full-back, central midfielder and striker top of his priority list.
