Arsenal are reportedly weighing up an offer for Portugal international star Andre Gomes, according to the Independent.

The Premier League side, who have signed defenders Stephan Lichtsteiner (Juventus) and Sokratis Papastathopoulos (Borussia Dortmund), as well as goalkeeper Bernd Leno (Bayer Leverkusen) so far this summer, have been linked with a £30m move for the FC Barcelona midfielder ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

The 24-year-old, who has 29 international caps for his country, provided just one assist and failed to score a goal in 31 appearances in all competitions for the La Liga champions last season.

Gomes, who was not included in Portugal’s 2018 FIFA World Cup squad for this summer’s finals in Russia, only joined Barcelona back in July 2016 following his transfer from Valencia, and he has netted three goals in 78 games overall for the Spanish side.

The report claims new Arsenal manager Unai Emery wants to lure the Portuguese player to North London, with Barcelona looking to pocket £30m for his sale.

Gomes is currently contracted at the Nou Camp until June 2021.
