With the transfer window now well underway, last season’s runners-up Arsenal are one of the Premier League sides that are yet to complete a signing so far this summer.

The Gunners have now finished second in the top flight table in three consecutive seasons, and Mikel Arteta will therefore likely want to bolster his squad ahead of the start of the new campaign.

Despite this, the North London outfit are yet to delve into the market and complete a new signing.

It appears, however, that Arsenal are now chasing a former Premier League attacker.

According to CaughtOffside, the Gunners are interested in Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman.

The report claims that Arsenal are on the hunt for a new winger and have identified a number of possible targets, including Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo.

The London side are likely to miss out on those two targets, though, and have therefore identified Lookman as a possible candidate to bolster Arteta’s attacking options next season.

Lookman, 27, joined Atalanta from RB Leipzig in 2022 and has since played more than 110 times for the Italian club across all competitions, scoring 52 goals and providing 25 assists.

In 2024 Lookman netted a hat-trick as Atalanta defeated German giants Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final.

The Nigeria international has previously had spells in England with Charlton Athletic, Leicester City, Everton and Fulham.

Arsenal previously showed interest in the Nigerian last summer, but the Serie A side were able to keep hold of one of their key players.

The Gunners are said to be in talks with their Italian counterparts about a possible deal to sign Lookman, who is likely to cost in the region of £40 million if he does leave Bergamo.
