Arsenal can move into third place in the Premier League table with victory over London rivals Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The Gunners didn’t play last weekend as they enjoyed a week off as part of the Premier League’s winter break, but manager Mikel Arteta will be keen to see his side return to winning ways.

Arteta’s side have won just one of their last five games in the league, dropping from first pace to fourth in the process.

With that in mind, it appears that the Spaniard is hoping to bolster his squad.

According to BILD via The Express, the North London outfit are considering an audacious move for Paris Saint-Germain star Xavi Simons.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at German side RB Leizpig, and has scored six goals and provided nine assists in 26 games for the club across all competitions.

Simons joined PSG’s youth academy from Barcelona in 2019 and has since played 11 times for the Ligue 1 giants across all competitions.

Simons has been in fine form over the past 18 months

The Dutchman spent last season on loan at PSV, where he enjoyed a remarkable season.

In total Simons scored an impressive 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 48 games for PSV last term, but has failed to ever establish himself as a regular in the French capital.

With that in mind, the report claims that the French side are willing to allow Simons to leave.

Simons’ versatility could appeal to Arteta, with the Netherlands international able to play as an attacking midfielder, as a winger on either flank, and even as a centre forward.

The Gunners have struggled in front of goal of late, so Simons’ goal threat and creativity would provide a welcome boost to Arsenal’s squad.
