Southampton are reportedly considering making a move for FC Porto star Giannelli Imbula, should the club lose fellow midfielder Victor Wanyama in January.

Speculation has arisen that Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are keen on securing a deal for the Kenya star during next month’s transfer window, meaning the Saints are already looking for his ideal replacement at St Mary’s Stadium.

The 23-year-old, who is a former France Under-21 international, has assisted two goals in 15 appearances in all competitions for the Liga NOS outfit so far this season.

However Ronald Koeman’s side, who currently lie 12th in the standings as of Saturday morning, would have to stump up more than the €20m transfer fee Porto paid for Imbula having only arrived from Ligue 1 club Marseille back in July.
