Chelsea became one of the first sides to book their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League as they beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 on Tuesday.

Graham Potter’s side had won just three of their previous 16 games across all competitions and found themselves 1-0 down from the first leg in Germany, but goals from Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz ensured they progress to the last eight of the competition.

Since taking charge of the club last summer, owner Todd Boehly has overseen the arrivals of 16 new permanent signings, but The Blues look likely to continue spending big this summer.

Several players are believed to be on the club’s radar, including Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal all also remain interested in the Ecuador international.

Caicedo, 21, has been in sensational form for The Seagulls over the past 18 months, and also impressed for his country at the World Cup in Qatar.

The midfielder was believed to be close to a move to Arsenal back in January but the deal never materialised, and Caicedo has since committed his future to the south coast club.

Last week he signed a new contract with Brighton that runs until 2027, although the report claims that his new deal is unlikely to deter any potential suitors.

Caicedo remains of interest to a number of Premier League clubs

The Gunners made numerous offers for Caicedo during the January window, before ultimately signing midfielder Jorginho from rivals Chelsea.

Brighton have reportedly put a £90 million price tag on Caicedo, who joined the club from Independiente del Valle back in February 2021.

The midfielder was sent out on loan to Belgian side Beerschot VA that summer, before returning to join then-Brighton boss Graham Potter’s side in January last year.

Since then, he has made 36 appearances for The Seagulls across all competitions, establishing himself as one of the most impressive young players in the Premier League.

Caicedo is said to now be earning around £60,000-per-week, although a move to a top six club would likely earn him a significant pay rise too.

Chelsea are likely to be in the market for a midfielder following the departure of Jorginho, with the futures of N’Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher all still uncertain.

United are also likely to be in the market, with Marcel Sabitzer set to return to Bayern Munich when his loan spell expires this summer, while Liverpool are set to lose Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and loanee Arthur Melo.

Melo, who has only featured once for Jurgen Klopp’s side, is set to return to parent club Juventus, which would leave The Reds short of midfield options.
