Arsenal look set to bolster their defence on transfer deadline day with the signings of Chelsea’s David Luiz and Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, according to reports.

Unai Emery has brought in four new senior players this summer, including Lille forward Nicolas Pepe, Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos and Saint-Etienne centre-back William Saliba.

However, with the latter rejoining the French side on a season-long loan and Laurent Koscielny leaving for Bordeaux, the Spanish boss has been keen to add some fresh faces to his backline.

And Sky Sports report that the North London outfit are nearing deals for both Luiz and Tierney ahead of Thursday’s 5:00pm deadline.

Tierney has been an Arsenal target all summer.

It’s claimed that Luiz, 32, will make the move across the capital but the two clubs have yet to agree a fee for the Brazilian.

Meanwhile, Tierney, 22, finally looks set to sign for the Gunners after a fee was agreed with Celtic after months of negotiations.

The Premier League side saw a second offer of £25million turned down by the Scottish champions as it included too many add-ons.

However, the two clubs have now settled on a price for the Scotland international who has helped the Bhoys win a historic domestic treble treble over the past three campaigns.
