Arsenal have completed the signing of striker Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City on a long-term contract.

The Gunners officially announced the long-awaited news on Monday morning, revealing that the Brazilian will wear the number nine shirt for the club.

The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move to the capital since it was announced that City had signed Erling Haaland, and the 25-year-old has now finally got his wish.

Jesus scored 95 goals in 236 games for the Citizens after arriving in England in 2017, and also won 11 trophies including four Premier League titles.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, who was believed to be a huge factor in Jesus choosing to sign for Arsenal, has been desperate to add at least one striker to his squad after the departures of both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.

The Spaniard also commented on his relief at getting the deal done.

“I’m very excited. The club has done a tremendous job to recruit a player of this stature,” he said.

“I know Gabriel personally very well, and we all know him well from his time in the Premier League and being really successful here.

“This is a position that’s been on our radar for a long time now and we have managed to get a player that we all wanted, so I’m really happy.”

The Gunners’ announcement also states that Jesus will link up with his new teammates for pre-season training soon.
