Players plus cash transfers are becoming more and more prominent in modern day transfers.

While not always proving to be successful, as the Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan trade between Arsenal and Manchester United demonstrated, they are deals which provoke interest and excitement amongst supporters.

With football fans always thirsty for new talent, while also keen on particular players to vacate the club, a player swap or player plus cash deal can sometimes kill two birds with one stone.

However, they are meticulous difficult to arrange as one must convince the club to accept the player offered in exchange, and you also have to convince the player to make the move to the club.

Arsenal are particularly struggling with this deal, as they have been told by Leicester City, a player plus cash swap for James Maddison is completely out of the question, according to the Transfer Insider.

Maddison has made 118 appearances for The Foxes.

It is believed the Gunners were willing to offer the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Eddie Nkethia, Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson, plus cash in exchange for the Foxes star.

Mikel Arteta is desperately trying to fill the void vacated by Martin Odegaard who was retained by Real Madrid after his loan spell at the Emirates.

A central defender and a creative focal point were the main areas needing addressing for the North Londoners, and they have already strengthened their backline with the £50 million signing of Ben White from Brighton.

However, if they are to add Maddison to their ranks, they would likely need to spend even more with Leicester allegedly demanding around £70 million for his services.
