Arsenal will aim to keep alive their dwindling Premier League title chances when they face Brentford on Wednesday.

Mikel Arteta’s side arrive in West London occupying third place in the Premier League table, although they find themselves ten points behind runaway leaders Liverpool and will likely need to avoid any further slip ups if they are to have e any chance of winning the title.

With the January transfer window now open, the Gunners could look to bolster Arteta’s squad ahead of the second half of the season.

Now, it appears that Arsenal could move ahead of Liverpool in the race to land a Bundesliga forward.

As per GiveMeSport, Arsenal could move into pole position to land Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush as Liverpool are currently focussed on agreeing a new contract with Mohamed Salah.

The two Premier League giants are both interested in the Egyptian, who has scored 18 goals and provided 12 assists in 24 matches across all competitions so far this term.

Salah, who also has a combined 30 goal involvements this season, his set to be out of contract at the end of the current campaign and the Reds are therefore working hard to extend his deal.

Marmoush has been one of the most prolific scorers in Europe so far this term

The report suggests that Arsenal could therefore be frontrunners to land Marmoush, 25, who can play centrally or on the left flank.

Frankfurt will demand a fee of around £50 million for the Egyptian, the report claims, as he has more than two years remaining on his current £25,000-per-week contract.

It is claimed that the German side are reluctant to lose such a key player midway through the season, as they continue to push for qualification for the Champions League.

Despite this, the report also claims that both the Reds and the Gunners have been handed a boost in their pursuit, as Marmoush himself could have his head turned if a significant offer from a big European club was made for him.
