Arsenal aren’t in action during this weekend’s FA Cup fourth round ties after being knocked out of the competition against Liverpool earlier this month.

The Gunners suffered a 2-0 defeat against the Reds at The Emirates in the previous round, and Mikel Arteta’s side therefore don’t return to action until they face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.

The North London side are one of a number of Premier League clubs that are yet to make a signing during the current transfer window, and it appears that they have now decided against a move for one of their targets.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal will not pursue a move for Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson in the closing days of the current window.

Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United are all said to be ‘on alert’ over a potential move for the England international, with the Magpies likely to be forced into selling at least one key player this year in order to balance the books.

Wilson has attracted interest from several other Premier League clubs

Wilson is a proven Premier League goal scorer having netted 86 times in 215 appearances in the competition across spells with Bournemouth and Newcastle.

The Englishman arrived at St. James’ Park from the Cherries in 2020, and has since played 102 times for the North East outfit.

He has scored 46 times in that period, as well as providing 11 assists.

Newcastle will demand a fee of around £20 million to let the 31-year-old depart this month, the report claims, but it appears that Arsenal are no longer in the running to sign him in the coming days.

Wilson’s current contract with the Magpies is set to run until 2025, but it appears increasingly likely that he could depart the club prior to that date.
